Mary Chattin, RYT
Mary has been practicing Yoga since 2000 and has been teaching since spring of 2006. After two years with her teacher, Nancy LaNasa, former manager and teacher of Jivamutkti Yoga Center, she answered her calling to be a teacher of yoga.
Mary began her journey as a yoga teacher at the University of West FL in an apprenticeship program sponsored by Dominique Cullen and John Harding. Here she completed a health research project on yoga for pregnancy and received her first Yoga Teacher certification through Fitour Fitness. That spring she began to teach HathaYoga at the downtown Pensacola YMCA. In January 2007, Mary followed in the footsteps of her teacher Nancy LaNasa by traveling to Kerala, South India to receive her second teacher training. At the Sivananda Yoga and Vedanta Center in Neyyar Dam, she was provided with a complete study of yoga with students from around the world. It was in India that she realized the importance of meditation and stillness of the mind.
Mary was a former manager and teacher at Abhaya Yoga Center where she taught meditation, pranayama, and asana classes. Most recently, she completed 'The Radiant Child' course. Currently, Mary teaches open level asana and prenatal classes at Peaceful Yoga Studio. Her greatest inspirations include Bob Marley, Julia Butterfly Hill, Swami Vishnu Devanada, the mountains, and most of all, her daughter Lily Bloom. Lisa Snyder, RYT
Lisa discovered yoga at the local YMCA and knew from the very first class that her concept of exercise and fitness was changed forever. An intense longing to learn more and to dig deeper led Lisa to Yoga Den where she completed her 200-hour Teacher Training Program. Due to her background in elementary education, the art of teaching cam naturally, and it wasn't long before Lisa was teaching a full schedule at yoga studios and, of course, the YMCA. Although she loves the total yoga studio experience, she feels it is very important to give back to her roots. As a result of her own personal discovery and growth through a daily yoga practice, Lisa believes every yoga class (whether mind/body, power vinyasa, etc.) comes down to the quality of your breath, the integrity of each pose, and the balance of your internal energy with the energy that surrounds you. Lisa strives to deepen her practice and knowledge of yoga by reading, meditating, and spending time on her mat as a student.
